Jessica Burgess

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hello, my name is Jess. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I am committed to providing a compassionate, empathetic space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours while helping them navigate life's challenges. I take a strength-based, holistic approach to therapy, as I recognize the delicate interplay of emotional, psychological, and social factors in each individual's journey. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client, and I am dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to gain insights, develop coping strategies, and to foster meaningful change.

After 12 years as a teacher, I decided to switch careers because I wanted to do more than what the educational system could support. After spending some time working in the field of addictions and mental health, I decided to pursue training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In my opinion, DBT is a life-changing treatment modality that can be taught and used by individuals of all ages. It was through this training experience that I discovered how much I enjoyed working with eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, trauma, and other comorbid conditions.

Outside work, I enjoy camping in the back of my vehicle, coaching gymnastics, watching movies, and practicing yoga. I also have a Bengal cat named Mynka, who is entertaining to watch! She is very chatty, loves water, and attacks anything that moves – including me!
